A new feature will let users add a second WhatsApp account using a phone number or QR code. Switching between accounts will be seamless, without needing to log out or restart the app. Distinct notifications will indicate which account has received a message, enhancing clarity.

WhatsApp has expressed its goal to simplify managing multiple accounts. New reports reveal that Meta is developing a feature for iPhone users to add and manage multiple WhatsApp accounts within the same app. This functionality was first spotted in the iOS 25.9.10.70 beta and enhanced in the latest 25.19.10.74 beta on Test Flight, according to WaBetaInfo. It will allow users to switch between accounts easily, without relying on third-party apps or WhatsApp Business.

The report states that the new feature will be available in the app’s settings, offering a dedicated section to view all linked accounts. Each account will maintain separate chat histories, settings, and notifications, ensuring clear separation between personal and professional messages. Users can create a second account with a new phone number or link an existing one using a QR code. Figure 1 shows WhatsApp May Soon Support Two Accounts on One iPhone.

Notably, switching between accounts will be instant and won’t require logging out or restarting the app. A confirmation message will appear on-screen once the switch is complete, showing each account’s profile picture and name to help users easily navigate between them.

The company is also creating a notification system to better manage messages from multiple accounts. When you receive a message on a different account, the notification will display both the sender’s name and the account it was sent to [1]. Tapping the alert will automatically switch you to the correct account and open the conversation.

This feature could be particularly beneficial for iPhones with eSIM support, enabling users to manage multiple phone numbers without changing devices. Although WhatsApp hasn’t announced an official release date, the multi-account functionality is under development and will arrive in a future update.
