Following Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Zomato’s Blinkit, Flipkart has joined the quick-commerce sector with its new service, Flipkart Minutes. This service will allow users to receive electronics, smartphones, and other items within 10-15 minutes.

The initiative has been in development for several months. Flipkart aims to operate around 100 fulfillment centers to support this service during the upcoming festive season. With Minutes, Flipkart introduces another option for users and intensifies the competition in the quick-commerce market. Hari Kumar G, Vice President and Head of Grocery at Flipkart, mentioned that Flipkart aims to enhance its grocery services in metropolitan areas while expanding into Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns. He noted that both quick-commerce and next-day delivery models can coexist and highlighted the substantial potential for quick-commerce services based on regional demand.

Where is it available?

Minutes is currently available in select areas of Bengaluru, including HSR Layout, Gunjur, Bellandur, and Kadubeesanahalli, with plans for future expansion.

Flipkart is aiming to stand out in a highly competitive market. Previously, it introduced same-day delivery for various product categories across 20 cities, including both metro and non-metro areas like Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Siliguri, and Vijayawada.

Recently, Google invested nearly $350 million in Flipkart as part of a larger $1 billion funding round initiated in 2023.[2] This new capital will help Flipkart compete against rivals such as Amazon, Reliance JioMart, Tata Digital, and quick-commerce competitors like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy’s Instamart.
