iPhone Users, Be Cautious! You Could Lose All Your Money in This India Post Scam

There's a new scam circulating that specifically targets iPhone users.[1] This scam involves fraudulent messages sent via iMessage. The Government of India has also issued a warning about this scam. Several iPhone users have reported receiving fake messages about undelivered parcels supposedly held at India Post warehouses. These messages originate from random accounts and include suspicious links. Clicking on these links prompts users to pay a small fee to confirm delivery. Upon payment and entering their OTP, scammers gain access to sensitive data and can even empty users' bank accounts. What Precautions Should You Take?
"India Post: Your package has reached the warehouse, and we made two delivery attempts without success due to incomplete address details. Please update your address information within 48 hours to avoid return. Use the link to update your address: Once updated, we will re-deliver within 24 hours. India Post!"
To raise awareness about this issue, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through its cybersafety and cybersecurity awareness initiative, Cyber Dost, issued a warning to Apple users regarding this scam. The warning was posted on its official Twitter handle, X.
"New Transnational #Scam Alert: #iPhone users are receiving scam messages via iMessage regarding packages from random accounts. Avoid clicking on suspicious links and consider disabling read receipts for such messages."
If you encounter such messages, even if you've made an order, avoid clicking on any links randomly. First, verify their authenticity.[2] It only takes a moment before you could lose all your hard-earned money.
