Navigate flyovers with confidence

If you've ever been unsure whether to stay on the service road or take a flyover, you're not alone. To assist, Google Maps is introducing a new feature that will highlight flyovers along your route. This means you'll be informed in advance if your route includes a flyover, allowing you to prepare and navigate more easily. This feature is being rolled out in 40 cities across India for Android users, with support for iOS and CarPlay coming soon. Avoid narrow roads more easily

Navigating narrow roads in India can be challenging, particularly for four-wheeler drivers. To address this, Google Maps is introducing a new AI-powered feature that estimates road widths to help drivers avoid narrow roads whenever possible. This feature is starting to roll out on Android devices in eight cities: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Indore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati. If avoiding a narrow road is not possible, Maps will alert you so you can choose an alternative route or proceed with caution. This feature will be available for iOS and more cities soon.[1]

Support for electric vehicle (EV) journeys

Electric vehicle drivers can now charge their vehicles more easily on the go. Google Maps has partnered with major EV charging providers such as ElectricPe, Ather, Kazam, and Statiq to add over 8,000 charging stations to the app. Users will be able to see detailed information about each station, including plug types and real-time availability.[2] "This is the first time we're launching EV charging stations for two-wheelers on Google Maps, and India is the first country to receive this feature," the tech giant announced.

Metro ticket bookings made simple

Public transportation just became much more convenient. Google Maps now offers metro ticket bookings in Kochi and Chennai through a partnership with ONDC and Namma Yatri. When searching for public transport directions in these cities, you'll see an option to book your metro tickets directly through the app, eliminating the need to wait in line at the station.

Easier incident reporting

Google Maps has made reporting road incidents, such as construction or traffic mishaps, simpler. With just a few taps, you can report issues or confirm others’ reports, helping to keep the community informed. This update is available across all platforms, including Android, iOS, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

Discover local favourites with curated lists

Finding great places to eat or visit just got easier with new curated lists on Google Maps. The app now features recommendations from local experts and the community, highlighting top spots in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Goa. Additionally, you can create and share your own lists with friends, making trip planning and exploring new places more fun and collaborative.
