If you’ve ever wished for the ability to add multiple accounts on WhatsApp for iPhone, there’s good news. A recent update, available through Apple’s TestFlight beta program, introduces this feature, hinting that it could soon be available to all iPhone users.

Android users might chuckle, as WhatsApp has supported multiple accounts on that platform since 2023, but hey, better late than never.

To set up additional WhatsApp accounts on your iPhone, you'll just need a second phone number or a device that supports multiple SIM cards or eSIMs. The process is straightforward and should be easy to follow. Figure 1 shows WhatsApp.

WABetaInfo, the first to report the feature, confirmed that the update removes the need for multiple devices or parallel apps to manage different WhatsApp accounts, making account management simpler and more convenient for users.

iPhone users will be able to add a new account to WhatsApp in two ways: one option is to set up the device as the primary account, while the other allows you to scan a QR code to link the new account as a companion.

According to WABetaInfo, while users can manage all their conversations within a single app, elements like notifications, chats, backups, and settings will remain separate for each account. This means each account will operate independently within the app.

Previously, users had to rely on a workaround by using the WhatsApp Business app with a separate number, but the new feature will allow them to manage both numbers directly within the main app. This means no more switching between apps to handle multiple accounts.

There are many reasons why someone might want multiple WhatsApp accounts on one phone. A common one is to keep work and personal communications separate. If you run multiple businesses, managing customer interactions and branding for each business becomes much easier. Additionally, some users might prefer creating different profiles or personas for various social circles or interests.
