A standout feature being introduced is the ability to select specific participants when starting a call from a group chat [1]. This lets you call only the people you want, without disturbing the rest of the group—ideal for planning surprise parties or discussing gifts privately. New Video Call Effects

WhatsApp is enhancing video calls with ten new effects, adding fun elements like puppy ears, an underwater background, or a microphone for karaoke. These effects bring a playful touch to your conversations, making chats with family and friends more memorable.

Enhanced Calling Experience on Desktop

For desktop users, WhatsApp has improved the calling experience by making it easier to start calls, create call links, or dial directly. Simply click the calls tab on the desktop app, and everything you need is conveniently accessible, streamlining the process.

Improved Video Call Quality

WhatsApp is enhancing video call quality on both mobile and desktop, offering more reliable connections with higher resolution and clearer picture quality [2]. This makes one-on-one and group calls feel more like face-to-face conversations. These new features are gradually rolling out, so if you haven’t received them yet, they’ll be available soon.
