The holiday season is here, and OpenAI has made it even more festive with the launch of a new "Santa Mode" voice for ChatGPT. This feature allows users to interact with Santa, bringing holiday cheer straight to your device—perfect for kids or anyone looking to enjoy some festive magic.

OpenAI introduced Santa Mode on Thursday, just in time for the 2024 holiday season. Available through ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode, this feature lets users converse with a voice that sounds just like Santa—“merry and bright,” as OpenAI puts it—perfect for spreading holiday cheer. Figure 1 shows Santa Mode in ChatGPT.

But that’s not all. ChatGPT is also gaining the ability to understand live video with the addition of visual understanding [1]. This means Santa Mode can now "see" your family while interacting with you, making the experience more interactive. Whether you're by the tree or around the dinner table, Santa Mode can engage with your family in a personal and fun way.

This new feature is part of OpenAI's "12 Days of OpenAI" event, designed to deliver exciting updates to users.

Santa Mode is represented by a snowflake icon next to the prompt bar in ChatGPT. It’s being rolled out today for all users on mobile, web, and the ChatGPT desktop apps for macOS and Windows.

One important thing to note is that chats with Santa won’t be saved in your chat history or affect ChatGPT’s memory [2]. This ensures a private and fun conversation without any concerns about your data being stored.
