Ditch the Clutter: This Mini PC Does the Job of Three Devices

The ViewDock Gen2 is pushing the boundaries of what a mini-PC can be—combining solid performance, a built-in display, wireless charging, and extensive connectivity into a sleek, vertical design.

Mini PCs have evolved rapidly, now offering performance close to full desktops. However, most setups still require extra gear like docking stations, secondary monitors, and charging pads. The ViewDock Gen2 aims to eliminate that clutter by merging everything into a single device.

Currently in its crowdfunding phase on Kickstarter, the Gen2 blends a mini-PC, dock, and secondary display into one compact unit. While similar concepts have been attempted before—such as the unsuccessful 2024 effort by Miniproca—ViewDock is taking another shot at making the all-in-one desktop hub a reality.

Compact Design, Smarter Workflow

At the center of its design is a 4.5-inch built-in display. Though modest in resolution, it acts as a secondary workspace—perfect for system stats, widgets, or quick references—while your main monitor handles primary tasks. The adjustable screen enhances usability and turns on automatically with the system, adding convenience without disrupting workflow.

Performance That Packs a Punch

Under the hood, the ViewDock Gen2 runs on AMD Ryzen mobile processors, paired with Radeon 680M graphics. With up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and support for up to 4TB of SSD storage, it’s well-suited for everyday productivity, creative work, and even light gaming. An active cooling system with a vapor chamber keeps temperatures under control, ensuring stable performance in a compact form factor.

Connectivity Without Compromise

The device is designed as a complete desktop hub, featuring HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB-C/USB4, multiple USB-A ports, and dual 2.5G Ethernet. It can support up to three external monitors—plus its own built-in screen—making multi-display setups easier than ever.

Wireless features include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while a built-in 15W Qi charging pad lets you power your phone or accessories cable-free.

A Glimpse into the Future of Mini PCs

Positioned between a mini-PC, docking station, and desktop hub, the ViewDock Gen2 reflects a growing trend toward streamlined, all-in-one computing solutions [1]. Pricing on Kickstarter ranges from $639 to $1,229, offering significant discounts compared to expected retail costs.

As with any crowdfunding project, there are risks—but View Dock’s previous successful campaign adds some credibility. With shipping expected around August, the Gen2 could mark a meaningful shift toward cleaner, more integrated desktop setups.
