This early version lets the assistant answer questions about your favorite games, provide links for more information, and respond based on your account details, play history, achievements, and more. Figure 1 shows Microsoft Tests Copilot for Gaming in Xbox App on iOS and Android.

For instance, you might ask: “What’s my gamer score and can you give me some tips to raise it?” or “I love horror movies. Any game recommendations?” You can also inquire about your play history or account, such as: “What was the last achievement I earned in Starfield?” or “When does my Game Pass subscription renew?”

Taylor O’Malley, principal program manager at Xbox, explained in a blog post that this early mobile version allows users to access Copilot for Gaming as a second screen, ensuring it doesn’t distract from the core gameplay experience.

When you ask Copilot a question, it analyzes your Xbox player activity along with public information from Bing to craft a personalized response. Microsoft is working on adding more features, including richer game assistance and proactive coaching, to enhance the Copilot for Gaming experience.

The beta version is currently available in English for players aged 18 and older across numerous countries, including the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, India, Brazil, South Africa, and many more.

Microsoft intends to expand the availability of Copilot for Gaming to additional regions in the future.

Microsoft has launched a beta test for a new feature called Copilot for Gaming, integrated into the Xbox app on iOS and Android. This AI-powered assistant aims to enhance the gaming experience by providing helpful insights and support directly on your mobile device.

How Copilot Works

Copilot analyzes your Xbox player activity—like your game history, achievements, and stats—alongside public data from Bing. It then answers your questions, recommends games, tracks your progress, and even offers tips tailored to your gaming habits.

Features Available in the Beta

In this early beta, Copilot can respond to queries such as your gamer score, recent achievements, or game suggestions based on your preferences. It acts as a second screen so that it doesn’t disrupt your gameplay, making it a seamless companion while you play.

Availability and Eligibility

The beta is currently available in English for players aged 18 and older, across more than 50 countries worldwide—including the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, India, and others. Microsoft plans to expand access to more regions in the future.

Future Plans for Copilot

Microsoft is actively developing new features for Copilot, including proactive coaching and richer game assistance. These improvements aim to make the assistant more personalized and helpful, offering gamers a smarter and more interactive experience.
