Google is now launching its Gems feature, allowing you to personalize Gemini by creating your own custom AI chatbots. With Gems, you can tailor your chatbot to specialize in specific topics or align with your personal objectives.

Earlier this year, Google’s I/O conference dazzled with a wealth of announcements, and one of the highlights was the introduction of Gems. Now, Google is officially rolling out the Gems feature, allowing users to delve into its exciting capabilities. Here’s a closer look at what Gems has to offer.

What is Google's Gems feature?

Google Gems is a feature that allows you to customize Gemini to create your own personalized AI chatbots. Whether you want a gym buddy, sous chef, coding partner, or creative writing guide, you can design a Gem to fit any role you imagine. [1] Figure 1 shows Google's Gems: Customize Your Own Gemini AI Chatbots.

You can tailor Gems to serve as experts on various topics or adjust them to meet your specific needs. Just provide instructions for your Gem, give it a name, and start chatting with it whenever you like.

You simply describe what you want your Gem to do and how you'd like it to respond—such as, “you’re my running coach, provide a daily running plan and be positive, upbeat, and motivating.” Gemini will use these instructions to tailor a Gem to your specific needs.

Your Gem can also remember detailed instructions to help streamline repetitive or complex tasks.

Additionally, Google offers a selection of pre-made Gems for various purposes, including: a Learning Coach to simplify complex topics, a Brainstormer for easy inspiration, a Career Guide to help refine your skills and achieve career goals, and a Coding Partner to enhance your coding abilities.

Google’s Gems Availability

Google’s Gems feature is now being rolled out to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business, and Gemini Enterprise users across over 150 countries, including India. [2] It's available on both desktop and mobile devices and supports most languages.
