Google introduced AI Overviews in Search earlier this year, beginning with the U.S. Now, it is expanding AI Overviews to six additional countries, including India. The rollout in India will feature AI Overviews in both English and Hindi.

Earlier this year, Google launched AI Overviews in Search, starting in the U.S., to help users quickly find information and explore the vast content available on the web. Now, the tech giant is expanding this feature to six more countries, including India.

In India, Google is introducing AI Overviews in both English and Hindi, along with popular India-first features that were well-received during the Search Labs experiment. [1] These features include a language toggle button to easily switch between English and Hindi results and the option to listen to responses using Text-To-Speech by tapping the ‘Listen’ button. Figure 1 shows AI Overviews Now Available in India in Hindi and English.

"As part of our testing, we've observed that Indian users are more likely to listen to AI Overview responses than users in other countries," Google announced.

For context, AI Overviews are designed to help you find what you’re looking for more quickly and easily in search results. They simplify the search process by offering an AI-generated snapshot that includes key information and links for further exploration.

Google is also adding new ways to explore relevant websites while you search. On desktop, a new right-hand link display will appear for AI Overviews, and on mobile, you can access this by tapping the site icons in the upper right corner. These updates are beginning to roll out globally today for AI Overviews in all launched countries and for Search Labs users in more than 120 countries and territories.

Google is also experimenting with adding links to relevant web pages directly within the text of AI Overviews, in addition to the prominent links it already displays. [2] This enhancement makes it even easier for users to click through and visit sites that catch their interest.

"AI Overviews can create new ways to search that were never possible before. Now, more people around the world can use Search to ask new types of questions, quickly find the information they need, and explore the best content the web has to offer," Google stated.
