Instagram Now Allows You to Add a Song to Your Profile: Here's How to Do It
Instagram has introduced a new feature that lets users add a song to their profile. The chosen music will be displayed in the bio area of the user's profile, as shown in the screenshots shared by Instagram. Users have the option to remove or replace the song whenever they wish.

This feature echoes the music customization available on Myspace in the early 2000s, but with a key difference: unlike Myspace, the songs will not autoplay. [1] Visitors to a user's profile can play and pause the added song at their convenience. Figure 1 shows Instagram Now Allows You to Add a Song to Your Profile.
Instagram announced, "We’re excited to let you add a song to your profile, offering more ways to express yourself through music. Your selected profile song will remain live until you choose to change it," in a post from their creator’s account.
How It Works
Users can go to the "Edit profile" page and choose "Add music to your profile." From there, they can search for and select a song from Instagram's library of licensed music, which is also used for Reels and posts. The music can be up to 30 seconds long.
This feature is being introduced in partnership with singer Sabrina Carpenter, who will showcase a teaser of her upcoming song, "Taste," before its official release. Instagram has noted that this song will be available exclusively through this feature prior to its launch.
Further Updates
Recently, Instagram has rolled out several new music-related features, such as the option to add up to 20 tracks to a single Reel, the Add Yours music sticker, and the ability to include music in carousel posts with both photos and videos.
In other news, Meta-owned Instagram is reportedly testing a new layout for users' feeds that may replace the squares in the profile grid with vertical rectangles. [2] According to The Verge, this change is currently in the testing phase and has been observed by some users. The report indicates that Instagram has been considering an update to the profile grid's aspect ratio since 2022.
