The ALE Private 5G service integrates technology from ALE’s ecosystem, including ruggedized OmniSwitch hardware, OmniSwitch LAN, and OmniAccess Stellar WLAN software, ensuring seamless local and wide-area connectivity. The package is managed via ALE’s OmniVista platform for streamlined operations. Figure 1 shows Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Launches Private 5G Solution for IoT and Industrial Connectivity.

Celona, a specialist in private wireless solutions, contributes key 5G components such as a software-defined 4G/5G core, SIM/eSIM authentication, device management capabilities, wireless access points, and a cloud-based deployment, monitoring, and operation service.

Additionally, the service incorporates Celona’s MicroSlicing and Aerloc technologies. MicroSlicing guarantees application Quality of Service (QoS) and service level agreements (SLAs) over the wireless network, while Aerloc enhances reliability and policy enforcement for mission-critical applications.

The ALE Private 5G service is designed for large enterprises but is primarily aimed at complex industrial environments such as manufacturing plants, refineries, logistics warehouses, and other challenging network areas, according to ALE.

“The Private 5G solution offers large-area wireless coverage, secure and reliable high-speed mobility, and supports real-time, critical industrial applications,” ALE stated.

This package is built to support networked IoT devices and applications that require ultra-low latency and deterministic performance, including autonomous guided vehicles, robotics, HD video analytics, and augmented/virtual reality, the companies noted.

According to a recent Gartner Magic Quadrant report for 4G and 5G private mobile networks, Celona is recognized as a specialist vendor offering 5G LAN technology. Its portfolio includes radios, core, edge, management and orchestration functionality, and neutral host options.

“Celona provides RF design, network deployment, and operational support. The solution can be deployed as self-managed network infrastructure as a service or as a managed service, primarily sold through partnerships with resellers such as Verizon, NTT Data, and others,” Gartner stated.

According to Gartner, private mobile networks are well-suited for enterprise environments such as factories, warehouses, ports, airports, and mines, offering several key advantages:

  • Enhanced reliability and scalability compared to other wireless solutions.
  • Improved data privacy, allowing better management of potential attack surfaces.
  • Isolation from public cellular networks and stronger authentication than Wi-Fi.
  • Integration of multiple connectivity technologies into a single, unified service.
  • Advanced data collection, analysis, and decision-making capabilities essential for connected solutions and industrial applications.

In this segment, we introduce Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s (ALE) new private 5G package, designed to enhance industrial and IoT connectivity. We explore the partnership with Celona and how the solution aims to provide reliable, secure, and scalable wireless networking for enterprises operating in complex environments such as factories, refineries, and warehouses.
