In today's digital age, PDF has become one of the most widely used mediums for exchanging and collaborating on documents. Adobe Acrobat, the leading platform for working with PDFs, has continuously evolved to meet the needs of its customers. Recently, Adobe unveiled significant advancements in Adobe Acrobat, expanding its capabilities and transforming it into a multi-format, AI-powered environment. These new features allow users to surface insights across documents, create and edit compelling visuals and content, and collaborate more effectively. To provide more people with the opportunity to experience AI-powered document experiences, Adobe is offering free, unlimited access to the Acrobat AI Assistant from June 18 until June 28 [1].

Bringing Adobe Firefly Generative AI to PDFs

Creating compelling visuals is essential for impactful communication, but for many, generating or editing images is a challenging and time-consuming task. Adobe Acrobat's new image generation and editing capabilities, powered by Adobe Firefly Image 3, simplify this process. Users can now enhance or create beautiful new images and edit existing ones directly within Acrobat. Firefly Image 3 offers significant improvements, including better image generation quality, a deeper understanding of prompts, and new levels of detail and variety, expanding the possibilities for creative expression.

For the first time, a PDF solution provides in-app generative image capabilities. Features like Generative Fill, Remove Background, Erase, and Crop make image editing straightforward. Whether it’s a restauranteur refreshing a logo, an entrepreneur updating visuals for an investor presentation, or an HR director adding images to employee materials, Acrobat’s new generative AI Edit Image and Generative Image features enable a professional, creative touch to documents.

Enhanced Productivity with Acrobat AI Assistant

Researching, preparing for exams, analyzing data, or reviewing meeting notes often requires information from multiple document types. The new Acrobat AI Assistant features streamline this process, making it quick and easy to extract insights and share information from various documents.

With AI Assistant's new insights across documents, users can quickly identify key themes, trends, and relationships from selected documents, synthesizing information into impactful content. For example, a marketer researching ways to reach Gen Z customers can use Acrobat AI Assistant to analyze PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations. The assistant suggests prompts and allows users to ask questions based on the content, generating answers with citations for easy verification. Users can also format the information for specific purposes, such as creating emails to share with their team.

The enhanced meeting transcripts feature further aids users by generating summaries of main topics, key points, and action items from transcripts. This helps knowledge workers stay updated and keep teams aligned, even with back-to-back meetings.

Since the beta launch of AI Assistant earlier this year, millions of users have experienced a new way of working with PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and more.

Adobe's Commitment to Responsible AI

Adobe develops its AI features, including Adobe Firefly and Acrobat AI Assistant, in alignment with AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility, and transparency. The company has established standardized processes from design to deployment, overseen by a diverse AI Ethics Review Board. This ensures customers can use these features with confidence. Adobe does not train its generative AI models on customer data; instead, Adobe Firefly is trained on moderated, licensed Adobe Stock, and public domain images where copyright has expired, ensuring commercial safety.

Adobe is excited about this milestone for Acrobat as a multi-format, AI-powered platform. The company looks forward to collaborating with global customers to experiment, learn, and provide more intelligent document experiences.
