Flipkart Accelerates Quick Commerce Growth in India
India's quick-commerce market is growing rapidly, and Flipkart is accelerating its expansion to stay ahead in the increasingly competitive sector. Backed by Walmart, the company announced that its Flipkart Minutes service has reached 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers less than two years after launch, enabling faster deliveries across the country.
The company plans to expand this network to 1,500 centers by the end of 2026, strengthening its position against rivals such as Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Amazon. With this expansion, Flipkart is expected to become one of India's largest quick-commerce providers by fulfillment center count.

Competition Heats Up
Quick commerce has become one of the fastest-growing segments of India's e-commerce industry. Companies are rapidly building localized warehouse networks to deliver groceries, electronics, beauty products, and household essentials within minutes. Figure 1 shows flipkart accelerates quick commerce.
Amazon is also expanding aggressively through its Amazon Now service. The company currently operates in more than 15 cities and plans to grow its network to over 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers across 100 cities, while expanding into categories beyond groceries.
Changing Shopping Habits
Flipkart says customer demand is shifting beyond everyday essentials. Categories such as electronics, beauty products, personal care items, and fresh produce are seeing strong growth through the Minutes platform.
The company also reports significant growth in smaller cities, where demand has increased rapidly as services expand beyond major metropolitan areas [1]. According to Flipkart, customers are increasingly using Minutes alongside its main e-commerce platform, resulting in more frequent purchases and higher order values.
The Future of Quick Commerce
Flipkart plans to continue opening 75 to 100 fulfillment centers every month while entering additional cities across India. As both Flipkart and Amazon invest heavily in faster delivery networks, India is emerging as a global leader in quick commerce. Industry analysts expect the number of micro-fulfillment centers to continue rising over the next several years, transforming quick delivery from a grocery-focused service into a comprehensive online shopping experience.
