Adobe's Firefly, an innovative text-to-image AI model, has gained significant traction with users generating approximately 200 million AI-generated images since its launch. Recognizing its broad consumer appeal, Adobe has now announced its intention to extend Firefly's capabilities to its 12,000 enterprise customers. [1]

Figure 1 shows Images generated from Adobe's text-to-image AI tool. Firefly's training data consists of over 100 million images, including Adobe's stock images, licensed images, and public domain images. To build this vast dataset, Adobe leverages its extensive collection of high-quality stock assets, where contributors receive royalties for their sold or used images. While some contributors have raised concerns about their work being used to train Firefly, they cannot opt out due to licensing agreements. However, Adobe plans to compensate contributors once Firefly exits its beta phase. [1]

Addressing potential legal implications, Adobe aims to provide enterprise customers with peace of mind by ensuring Firefly is commercially safe and backed by Adobe through indemnification. With enterprise clients like Coca Cola, Walgreens, and General Motors, Adobe's generative AI tools, including Firefly, were initially introduced to its Creative Cloud users via Adobe Photoshop in May. Notably, Firefly has already been utilized creatively, such as expanding meme images beyond their original frames. [1]

While acknowledging the risk of misuse, Adobe has taken steps to combat deepfakes and misinformation by launching the Content Authenticity Initiative in 2019. This initiative aims to label AI-generated content appropriately and identify any tampering. Firefly-generated content includes metadata and credentials that provide insights into the image's creation, edits, and related information. [1]

Furthermore, Adobe has plans to integrate its prompt-based text-to-image tools with Google's conversational chatbot Bard. This collaboration will enable users to create synthetic images within Bard using Firefly. Additionally, Adobe offers various AI-powered tools for enterprises, including text, photo, and video marketing copy creation, as well as access to language models from Microsoft Azure OpenAI service, Google's Flan-T5, and more. These tools, available through Adobe Sensei, enable automation of tasks such as customer analysis, data queries, and advertising budget adjustments. [1]

While Adobe has not disclosed pricing details or the official launch timeline for its enterprise-focused generative AI services, the company's revenue of $17.6 billion in 2022 and its established client base highlight its position as a leading provider in the creative design software industry. [1]
