Daggerheart's First Expansion Adds Werewolves and Vampires
Critical Role’s Daggerheart RPG is receiving its first expansion in summer 2026, introducing new character options and enemies.
The Hope & Fear expansion for Daggerheart almost doubles character creation options, adding a Dread domain for the new Witch and Warlock classes, as well as Brawler and Assassin classes, each with two subclasses, expanding the card-based ability system.

Hope & Fear introduces transformation cards, letting players combine ancestries with supernatural or divine traits—like werewolf, vampire, ghost, or demigod—plus new community options such as Frostborne and Reborne. It also adds six new ancestries, including gnome and elemental-touched types like Tidekin and Emberkin, while expanding equipment with 100 new weapons, armor, and consumables. Game Masters receive four new campaign ideas, each with unique mechanics and themes, alongside over 130 new adversaries. PAX Unplugged attendees can preview the expansion, which is available for pre-order and launches summer 2026 [1]. The $39.99 standard edition includes a 200-page book, cards, and a blank adversary pad, while the $119.99 deluxe edition adds dice, a GM screen, tokens, and a gold foil box.
At launch, the deluxe edition will be exclusive to Darrington Press Guild and Critical Role stores in the US, UK, CA, AU, and EU, while the standard edition will also be sold at other local game stores and bookshops.
