New Fan Remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5.5.4 Released with Zora’s Domain
YouTube creator ‘CryZENx’ has released a new demo of his impressive Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake built in Unreal Engine 5. This latest demo lets players explore and experience Zora’s Domain firsthand.
The free demo is limited to 30 FPS and only allows access to the Zora’s Domain area. CryZENx also offers a 60 FPS version of the mod, but it’s behind a paywall. It’s likely that the paid version includes all the other chapters the creator has remade.

It's frustrating that the framerate is capped at 30FPS. I'm not sure if AMD Fluid Motion Frames or NVIDIA Smooth Motion with Frame Generation can be used to effectively double the framerate [1]. Still, using Lossless Scaling might be an option. While applying Frame Gen to a 30FPS source isn't perfect, it could still provide smoother motion compared to the typical choppy 30FPS experience, which is a definite improvement. You can go ahead and download the free demo using the link provided. At the end of the article, there’s also a video that gives a solid overview of this fan remake. So, if you’re not up for trying the free 30FPS version yourself, you can at least check out the video to get a good sense of what it’s like.
Like I mentioned earlier, this is one of the best fan remakes of a classic game made in UE5. Unlike many other fan projects, this one features fully functional gameplay mechanics. Players can explore the environments, battle various enemies, use their ocarina, break objects, collect items, and interact with NPCs. Additionally, this fan remake of the classic N64 Zelda game includes in-engine cutscenes and a working inventory system.
Since we’re on the topic of Unreal Engine 5, we recommend checking out some other free fan-made demos. You can try the Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made STALKER remake in UE5. And if you’re a fan of old-school FPS games, don’t miss the remake of the classic FPS Blood built in Epic’s engine.
And there’s even more! You can download a great remake of the classic Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5. There’s also a free Attack on Titan game available. Plus, fan remakes of Dino Crisis 2 and MediEvil 2 are out there. Don’t miss the impressive Sonic Adventure 2 Redux, a fantastic fan remake of Sonic Adventure 2. And, of course, there are amazing fan-made ports of Skyrim and Oblivion as well.
If you have a high-end GPU, you can also check out two impressive tech demos: one showcasing a Witcher-like environment, and the other featuring a detailed Italian town set in Rome [2]. Last month, we shared a UE5 demo of King’s Field 2 as well. On top of that, there’s The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a Flappy Bird remake, a Need for Speed: Underground 2 demo, and a Diablo 2 Remake demo. They all look fantastic, so definitely give them a try!
