Cloudera Delivers On-Premise Cloud Data Services to Strengthen AI Security
Enterprise cloud provider Cloudera has announced plans to extend its cloud-based data services to on-premises environments, a move designed to support enterprises seeking secure AI adoption while maintaining data sovereignty.
Unveiled at the company’s Evolve25 event in Singapore, the offering brings GPU acceleration for generative AI workloads, with feature parity to Cloudera’s cloud version. This enables businesses to deploy workloads seamlessly across hybrid environments.

“This release marks a major step in data modernization, moving away from monolithic clusters toward agile, containerized applications,” said Leo Brunnick, Cloudera’s Chief Product Officer. Figure 1 shows Cloud Data Services.
The launch reflects rising concerns over data sovereignty, particularly in Europe, where geopolitical tensions and legal uncertainties around cross-border data access have driven organizations to prioritize keeping sensitive information local [1]. These concerns were amplified after a Microsoft legal executive in France admitted the company could not fully prevent U.S. authorities from accessing European data.
Cloudera joins vendors such as Rackspace, Oracle, and SUSE in rolling out sovereignty-focused solutions, but emphasized its ability to safeguard the entire data lifecycle. According to the company, the on-prem offering helps enterprises reduce infrastructure costs, streamline data management, improve security with automation, and accelerate AI deployment.
The product suite also includes Cloudera’s AI Inference Service—a hosting environment for generative AI systems—and AI Studio, a development toolkit for building AI applications. Together, these enable organizations to run AI securely within their own firewalls.
Among early adopters is Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). CIO Toto Prasetio said the technology provides essential infrastructure to expand the bank’s generative AI projects securely, while ensuring compliance with Indonesia’s regulatory requirements.
