Journal of Enterprise and Business Intelligence

Publication Ethics

The Journal of Enterprise and Business Intelligence is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity in the content published. This journal has a Conflict-of-Interest policy in place. JEBI code of conduct is inspired by guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and this code of conduct is prepared by the Board of Members of AnaPub Publication to maintain high quality of its official periodical. It also aims to uphold transparency in the journal operation process.

The JEBI uses Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate) plagiarism detection software to screen the submissions. If plagiarism is found, the COPE guidelines on plagiarism will be followed.

Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized from a manuscript by other authors, whether published or unpublished, will be rejected and the authors may incur sanctions. Any published articles may need to be corrected or retracted.

Content published in this journal is peer reviewed (Double Blind).

Authorship:

An individual who has made considerable academic contributions to a scientific investigation, for example, one who contributes significantly, to the conception, design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of the data, participates in drafting, reviewing or revising the manuscript for intellectual content and approves the manuscript to be published. Submitting authors must provide an ORCID and we encourage all authors to provide one. Changes in authorship must be declared to the journal and agreed to by all authors.

Corresponding Author:

If there are multiple authors in an article, one author should be designated as the Corresponding Author. A Corresponding Author assumes overall responsibility for the manuscript, providing significant contribution to the research effort, may not necessarily be the principal investigator or project leader.

Co-Authors:

All co-authors of a publication are responsible for providing consent authorship to the Corresponding Author, should contribute to the research work, take responsibility for appropriate portions of the content, acknowledging that they have reviewed and approved the manuscript and are responsible for the content of all appropriate portions of the manuscript, including the integrity of any applicable research.

Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers should decline to be involved with a submission when they

  • Recent publication or current submission with any author
  • Recently shared an affiliation with any author
  • Collaborate or recently collaborated with any author
  • Have a close personal connection to any author
  • Have a financial interest in the subject of the work
  • Feel unable to be objective

Reviewers must declare any remaining interests in the ‘Confidential’ section of the review form, which will be considered by the editor. Editors and reviewers must declare if they have previously discussed the manuscript with the authors.

Conflict of Interest:

A Conflict of Interest exists when judgement regarding the research is influenced by factors such as financial gain or personal relationships. All authors are required to disclose any financial, personal or other associations that may influence or be perceived to influence their work. For more information on COIs, Visit

Anti-Plagiarism Policy:

AnaPub Publications is committed to publish original and unpublished material to maintain the integrity of the scientific record. The corresponding author must affirm that all of the other authors have read and approved of the manuscript. All articles submitted to AnaPub Publications are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate. If an article contains traces of plagiarism, AnaPub Publications will lead an investigation on the matter and will take further action depending on the type of plagiarism.

Citation Manipulation:

Citation manipulation refers to the publication of an article primarily to increase an author's number of citations. This is against our Ethical Guidelines, and we strongly advise authors not to indulge in similar activities.

Editors and reviewers must not ask authors to include references merely to increase citations to their own or an associate’s work, to the journal, or to another journal they are associated with.

Duplicate submission and Redundant Publications

Redundant publication refers to publishing the same intellectual material more than once, by the author. Suspected cases of redundant manuscript submission will be handled as per the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

Manuscripts submitted to JEBI must not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration and must be withdrawn before being submitted elsewhere. Authors whose articles are found to have been simultaneously submitted elsewhere may incur sanctions.

If authors have used their own previously published work, or work that is currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they must cite the previous articles and indicate how their submitted manuscript differs from their previous work. Duplicate publication of the same, or a very similar, article may result in the retraction of the later article and the authors may incur sanctions.

Fabrication and falsification

The authors of submitted manuscripts or published articles that are found to have fabricated or falsified the results, including the manipulation of images, may incur sanctions, and published articles may be retracted.

Sanctions:

In the case of a complaint of misconduct, AnaPub Publications will carry out an investigation following the COPE guidelines. All stakeholders will be given an opportunity to share their views on the matter. If the complaint raises valid concerns, the journal will implement sanctions on authors according to severity of the breach.

  • Rejection of the manuscript and any other manuscripts submitted by the author(s).
  • Not allowing submission for 3 years.
  • Prohibition from acting as an editor or reviewer.

Investigations

Suspected breaches of our publication ethics policies, either before or after publication, as well as concerns about research ethics, should be reported to our Research Integrity team. AnaPub Publications may ask the authors to provide the underlying data and images, consult editors, and contact institutions or employers to ask for an investigation or to raise concerns.

Any issues reach us researchintegrity@anapub.co.ke.

Manuscripts Corrections and retractions

When errors are identified in published articles, the publisher will consider what action is required and may consult the editors and the authors’ institution(s).

Errors by the authors may be corrected by a corrigendum and errors by the publisher by an erratum. All authors will be asked to agree to the content of the notice.

Journal Editors have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either because of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g. miscalculation or experimental error)

  • The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification.
  • It constitutes plagiarism
  • It reports unethical research

If there are errors that significantly affect the conclusions or there is evidence of misconduct, this may require retraction or an expression of concern following the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
