Bombardier’s flagship Global 8000 business jet has achieved its first major speed milestone, completing a nonstop transatlantic journey from Montreal, Canada, to Nice, France, in just over six hours. The record-setting flight carried passengers to the prestigious Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, showcasing the aircraft’s remarkable blend of speed, range, and luxury.

A Landmark Flight Across the Atlantic

The Montreal-to-nice mission marks the first officially recognized speed record for the Global 8000. Designed for ultra-long-range travel, the aircraft demonstrated its ability to connect North America and Europe with exceptional efficiency.

According to Bombardier, the Global 8000 is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 0.95, placing it among the fastest business jets currently in operation. With an impressive range of 8,000 nautical miles, the aircraft is engineered to serve travelers who require nonstop access to major business and leisure destinations worldwide.

Stephen McCullough, Executive Vice President of Engineering, Product Development, and Bombardier Defense, described the aircraft as a leader in the ultra-long-range category, citing its speed, performance, comfort, and operational flexibility. Figure 1 shows world’s fastest business jet.

Luxury Designed for Long-Haul Travel

Beyond speed, the Global 8000 places a strong emphasis on passenger well-being. One of its standout features is an exceptionally low cabin altitude of 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet. This environment is designed to reduce fatigue and lessen the physical effects often associated with long-distance air travel.

The spacious cabin includes four distinct living areas and a full-size kitchen, allowing passengers to work, dine, relax, and sleep comfortably during extended journeys. Advanced connectivity systems and Bombardier’s Nuage seating further enhance the onboard experience, providing greater comfort throughout the flight.

Performance Without Compromise

Despite its large size and intercontinental range, the Global 8000 delivers takeoff and landing capabilities comparable to those of much smaller light jets [1]. Its advanced wing design, featuring leading-edge slats, improves airport accessibility and operational versatility.

Bombardier states that this capability allows the aircraft to access up to 30 percent more airports than competing ultra-long-range jets, offering operators greater flexibility when flying to regional or space-constrained destinations.

Setting a New Standard in Business Aviation

The Global 8000 represents Bombardier’s vision for the future of premium business travel, combining record-setting speed, exceptional range, and passenger-focused comfort in a single platform. With more than 5,200 Bombardier aircraft operating worldwide, the company continues to strengthen its position in the global business aviation market.

As the Global 8000 begins establishing performance benchmarks, its latest transatlantic achievement reinforces its status as one of the most advanced and capable business jets ever developed.
