NGH provides users with an “Always on” Wi-Fi experience, upgrading the network security with enhanced authentication and encryption via WPA2/WPA3 enterprise security. HSC’s Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) is a leading managed Wi-Fi platform for enterprises and service providers that delivers a simple and secure Wi-Fi login experience and unlocks a “cellular-like” seamless Wi-Fi roaming for users.[1]

Next-Generation Hotspot (NGH) is shown in figure 1. Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) is WBA’s accomplishment of an end-to-end Wi-Fi Roaming experience, achieving the seamless, secure and interoperable experience set as a benchmark by the Wi-Fi industry. This white paper examines the business case for NGH and Wi-Fi Roaming, and also provides a detailed breakdown of the building blocks needed for setting up quality roaming services. It outlines a number of successful trials and demos, and explores the ways in which WBA and its members are working to ensure that the technology continues to evolve.[2]

NGH: The Future of public wifi hotspot solution:

TThe demand for data has been growing at an exponential rate with no sight of slowing down. As the wireless ecosystem gets bogged down by more and more interconnected devices, Wi-Fi has emerged as a viable channel through which carriers can offload mobile data and streamline network access in next generation wifi routers.

Since 2011, the Wireless Broadband Alliance and its members have been conducting trials with a new suite of innovative technologies that were designed to be the solution to the data crunch: Next Generation Hotspot, created by Cisco in 2010. But it is only in the last few years that we have seen its adoption breakthrough, as global telecom leaders and industry partners have realized the massive potential the project has. Industry leaders are harmonizing the whole ecosystem to be compliant to the next wave of modernization with the faster Wi-Fi6 in the picture right next to the NGH/Passpoint technology. [3]

Next-Generation Hotspot (NGH) is a technology that enhances the security, speed, and reliability of Wi-Fi hotspots. It offers several benefits to both service providers and users, making it an important development in the Wi-Fi industry.

In conclusion, NGH is an important development in the Wi-Fi industry that offers several benefits to both service providers and users. Its ability to improve security, speed, and reliability makes it a valuable addition to any Wi-Fi network, and we can expect to see its adoption continue to grow in the years ahead.
