Nifty Wireless Microphone Comes with Fully Cable-Free in-Ear Monitors
At first glance, the S1 appears to be a standard handheld wireless microphone—and in many ways, it is. The microphone itself features switchable condenser and enhanced dynamic patterns, along with a built-in pop filter, delivering what the company promises as “clean, studio-quality sound.”

It also comes equipped with a high-performance DSP for real-time adjustments, allowing fine-tuning of EQ, compression, reverb, and more. On-device controls let you tweak your sound instantly, giving you full control on the fly. Figure 1 shows Wireless Mic Packs Built-In Cable-Free In-Ear Monitors.
But there’s more to this 4.9 × 1.42 × 1.42-inch (12.5 × 3.6 × 3.6-cm) wireless mic than meets the eye. Much like gadgets from Nokia and Huawei, Hisong Music’s portable all-in-one recording device comes with a pair of 2.4-GHz wireless earphones, which double as in-ear monitors—so you can leave bulky over-ear headphones at home. Each earbud features a 13-mm dynamic driver, delivering 137 dB SPL with less than 1% THD.
The device doesn’t include onboard storage, so creators will need to connect it wirelessly to a mobile or desktop device to capture and store audio files. An included wireless USB-C receiver handles the connection, with Hisong Music’s transmission technology promising latency as low as 24 ms.
The microphone itself packs an 800-mAh battery, offering up to 10 hours of use per charge, recharged via USB-C. The earbuds last around 3.5 hours on a single charge and recharge conveniently when docked in the mic’s housing.
Hisong’s Link app offers virtual mixing and smart control, and the package also includes Steinberg’s Cubasis LE for iOS. The S1 doubles as a 24-bit/48-kHz USB audio interface and is reportedly compatible with popular music production suites such as Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and GarageBand.
The AirStudio S1 is now live on Kickstarter. Pledges start at $199 for the Musician kit, which includes the microphone, earphones, and a wired audio interface. The $239 Creator kit adds a wireless RX mini adapter, while the $279 Master kit includes a wireless RX Plus unit as well.
