Dead by Daylight 2 Has Been Confirmed as Not in Development by Behaviour Interactive
For fans hoping for a Dead by Daylight 2, the news is disappointing: Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that a sequel is not in the works.
Speaking with Rebekah Valentine at last month’s Game Developers Conference, studio head of partnerships Mathieu Cote and creative director Dave Richard discussed the idea of a potential sequel or even a remake. Despite considering a fresh start for a sequel, they concluded it wouldn’t serve the franchise or its players well.

Richard explained, “We could make a sequel with a blank slate, which might be easier than addressing current issues, but it wouldn’t make sense for the fans. They’ve already invested so much time and money in Dead by Daylight.” Figure 1 shows Dead by Daylight 2.
Cote emphasized that Dead by Daylight should feel “current” to players when they launch it, even after a decade. Despite the game being 10 years old, Behaviour Interactive believes they can continue to expand and improve it, aiming to carry the game “kicking and screaming” into the next decade. Their focus is on keeping the existing game fresh for the players who have invested significant time and effort into it.
Cote confirmed, “We’re definitely not making a Dead by Daylight 2. Players won’t have to buy a sequel and start over from scratch.”
Fans are invited to share their thoughts on the absence of a sequel in the comments section and on the official Insider Gaming channels.
