176 Video Games That Sold Just a Single Copy in 2025
It’s usually “which games sold the most this year,” not “which games sold exactly one copy”—that is, until Circana senior director Mat Piscatella started sharing a few of these rare cases on Bluesky. Polygon asked him for a full-year dataset, and he provided a list of over 175 games across multiple platforms that each sold just a single copy in 2025.

The main takeaway is that players are still seeking out games for even the most popular consoles. The two top-selling systems in the U.S. dominated Circana’s list: the Nintendo DS with 44 games and the PlayStation 2 with 40. More recent hardware, like the Nintendo 3DS, also showed a variety of entries, including Square Enix’s first Dragon Quest 7 remake and The Sims 3. Even the PlayStation Vita, despite its limited success, still has fans picking up titles like Rayman and Borderlands 2, while the Game Boy Color—the oldest system represented—made a lone appearance. Finding patterns in these one-off sales is tricky, as there’s little to indicate a clear trend (except perhaps one 3DS anomaly, where someone seemed particularly into Etrian Odyssey). For each ultra-specific purchase—like the single copy of Need for Speed: Carbon on PlayStation 2 or I Heart Geeks on Nintendo DS—there’s also a mainline Pokémon game or a God of War collection.
Circana only tracks new retail sales, so this list doesn’t account for pre-owned copies bought on sites like eBay or that lone Kingdom Hearts 2 someone sold at a garage sale.
