Massive Update Makes Elden Ring: Nightreign’s Strongest Class Even More Broken

You might not encounter him often, but experienced Elden Ring: Nightreign players know the truth—the new Scholar class is a powerhouse. Already one of the game’s strongest picks, the Scholar gets even more deadly in patch 1.03.1, a substantial update packed with fresh content and long-awaited bug fixes.

Despite the bookish name, the Scholar turns intellect into domination, using clever item synergy and tactical buffs to carry entire teams. He can simultaneously debuff enemies by nearly 20% while boosting ally damage by the same amount every 12 seconds. He’s capable of reverse-reviving rings, increasing max health or FP by 20%, and even enhancing core stats depending on the consumables used. In the right hands, the Scholar truly does it all.

The patch isn’t just good news for Scholar mains—players of other classes will find plenty to like as well. Those infamous fire dogs that were wrecking runs with endless teleporting have finally been reined in, with reduced health and damage, and wolves that now actually disappear when they’re meant to. Figure 1 shows Elden Ring: Nightreign Update Supercharges Its Strongest Class.

One of the most significant changes targets a very specific (and very brave) group of players: those who own The Forsaken Hollows DLC and also venture into the brutally difficult Deep of Night mode. Deep of Night ramps up Nightreign with tougher enemies that grow increasingly lethal over time, with no cap on difficulty and no warning about which Nightlord awaits you at the end of day three.

The Forsaken Hollows itself is already a nerve-shredding expansion, packed with new enemies, bosses, and plenty of darkly comedic ways to die. With patch 1.03.1, DLC owners can now encounter Forsaken Hollows targets, landmarks, raids, and Shifting Earth events inside Deep of Night. Considering how often I’m already dying in the standard version, the thought of facing it all in tryhard mode is genuinely terrifying.

The Scholar Was Already Powerful

The Scholar class may not be the most popular pick in Elden Ring: Nightreign, but veteran players have long known how dominant it can be. Built around item mastery and team-wide buffs, the Scholar excels at turning preparation into overwhelming power. Even before the update, the class could weaken enemies while massively boosting ally damage, revive fallen teammates in unconventional ways, and enhance core stats like health and FP—making it one of the most versatile and impactful support classes in the game.

Patch 1.03.1 Pushes the Scholar Over the Top

Patch 1.03.1 supercharges the Scholar’s already impressive toolkit. The update improves item interactions, smooths out cooldown usage, and makes its buffs more reliable in high-pressure encounters. With faster access to damage boosts, stronger debuffs, and improved survivability options, the Scholar now enables teams to tear through content that previously required near-perfect execution. What was once a sleeper pick has become one of Nightreign’s most overpowered choices.

The Meta Shifts—and Everyone Feels It

The Scholar’s rise doesn’t happen in isolation. Patch 1.03.1 also introduces major balance changes, bug fixes, and new challenges, especially for players tackling The Forsaken Hollows DLC and the punishing Deep of Night mode. As difficulty scales endlessly and unpredictably, having a Scholar on the team can mean the difference between survival and a swift wipe. With this update, the class isn’t just strong—it’s reshaping how Nightreign is played at the highest levels.
