You might not be able to physically toss a lifebuoy to a swimmer one kilometer away, but you can deploy one to them via the TY-3R Flying Lifebuoy drone. The TY-3R, created by Chinese drone manufacturer Didiok Makings, combines elements of both a quadcopter and a lifebuoy.

The swimmer can utilize it as a flotation device. Following this, a human rescuer on a slower-moving watercraft will proceed to bring the individual back to shore.[1]

With a simple push of a button on the provided joystick remote, the TY-3R takes off, offering the pilot a real-time view from an adjustable onboard 720p camera as it makes its way out.

According to Didiok, the TY-3R can support up to two adults, boasts a communication range of 1.1 km (3,609 ft), reaches a top speed of 47 km/h (29 mph), and runs for over 10 minutes per battery charge. It weighs less than 5 kg (11 lb) and is fully IP68 waterproof, capable of enduring submersion to a depth of 1 m (3.3 ft) for 30 minutes.

Indeed, upon landing on the water, the TY-3R automatically shuts off its motors. Additionally, it features screens over its propellers to provide extra protection for swimmers' fingers and other body parts. It is currently accessible through the Didiok Makings website, priced at $11,803. To witness its capabilities, you can watch the video below, beginning at approximately the 01:05 timestamp.[2]

Unsurprisingly, the TY-3R is not the sole drone designed for rescuing distressed swimmers. Others, such as the Pars, Little Ripper, Auxdron, and Project Riptide system, are also equipped for this task. However, they accomplish it by dropping individual flotation devices to the person in need.
