The remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn, officially announced by Jan-Bart van Beek, the art and animation director at Guerrilla Games, will launch on October 31. This edition will feature enhanced graphics comparable to Horizon Forbidden West, including over 10 hours of re-recorded audio, motion capture, and upgraded character models, animations, lighting, and textures, achieving "the same visual fidelity" as its successor.

The game has been optimized for the PlayStation 5 and compatible PCs, with support for the upcoming PS5 Pro, which launches on November 7. In his announcement, van Beek noted that seven years is a significant timeframe in computer graphics, highlighting the many technological advancements since the original game's release. [1] The remaster was developed in collaboration with Nixxes, a Dutch video game developer, and will include improved audio and Atmos rendering for a more immersive experience. Additionally, the remastered version will come bundled with The Frozen Wilds expansion, adding new lands, machines, and skills. PC players can also look forward to support for ultra-wide resolutions and performance-enhancing technologies like NVIDIA's DLSS 3 AI-based rendering accelerator.

The remastered version retains the original game's accessibility features, such as remappable controls and haptic cues, while introducing a new optional feature that notifies players of interactable elements through sound and haptic feedback.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will be priced at $50, but those who already own the original game or the complete edition can upgrade for just $10, whether they purchase it on PS5 or PC via Steam or the Epic Games Store. [2] This $10 upgrade will also be available to players who added the game to their libraries through one of Sony's Play at Home program giveaways during the pandemic lockdowns. However, fans upgrading with a PS4 game disc will need to insert it into their console each time they play, as the upgrade offer is not accessible for those with the disc-free version of PS5.
