The PlayStation Portal is not a traditional handheld gaming console. Instead, it functions as a remote player, similar to a portable monitor with controls for your PlayStation 5 console.[1] It connects to your PS5 over Wi-Fi and streams gameplay to its screen. The PlayStation Portal is priced at Rs 18,990 and will be available for purchase from August 3 across Sony Centres, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Blinkit, and other retail outlets. Figure 1 shows The PlayStation Portal Remote Player.

PlayStation Portal: Features and Specifications

The PlayStation Portal connects to your console via Wi-Fi and streams games on its 8-inch FHD LCD display. The device is capable of playing games at 60FPS and 1080p resolution. A network speed of at least 5Mbps is required, with a minimum of 15Mbps recommended for an optimal gaming experience.

The PlayStation Portal plays supported games installed on your PS5 console and utilizes the integrated DualSense controller. It accurately reproduces haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in compatible games, responding to your in-game actions and simulating environmental factors. Dynamic resistance in the controller mimics the tension of interactions with in-game gear and objects in select PS5 titles.

Using the remote player is straightforward: turn it on, press a button to connect to your PS5 console, and start playing. [2] Your PS5 must be connected to a broadband internet connection, be powered on or in Rest Mode, and paired with your PlayStation Portal. Note that VR games and games streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium's cloud streaming are not supported. Only one PlayStation Portal can connect to a PS5 at a time.
