It’s hard to believe that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is already seven years old—especially when it feels like Left4Dead 2 came out just as recently. However, Fatshark is fully embracing the occasion, celebrating the game's seventh anniversary with special events, a new Versus map, and double XP for all players.

The highlight of the anniversary event is the return of A Quiet Drink, a limited-time mission where the Ubersreik five set out for a simple pint of Bugman's brew in Helmgart. However, what should have been a laid-back night quickly spirals into chaotic and bloody brawls. While this level isn’t new, completing it will reward players with a special portrait frame depicting a particularly unpleasant act involving a pig. Figure 1 shows Warhammer: Vermintide 2.

More notably, Fatshark has introduced a new Versus map titled A Grudge Served Cold. This map is a reworked version of an existing cooperative level, modified specifically for competitive play [1]. Fatshark mentioned that the Versus version includes new objectives and adjustments to enhance the PvP experience.

To top it off, Fatshark is offering double XP across all activities, making it an ideal time for lapsed players to jump back in and level up their characters more quickly. Alongside the major updates, the game has also received a patch with various tweaks and changes to weekly events and expeditions.

However, not everything is cause for celebration. Fatshark took the opportunity to address the much-anticipated weapon pack, which was previously teased through blog posts and even shown in prototype form. Unfortunately, the studio confirmed that the weapon pack will not be released this year, despite it only being March [2]. While the exact reason for the delay remains unclear, Fatshark assured fans that the weapon pack is still in development and will eventually make its way into the game.

“We’re eager to get these weapons into your hands,” Fatshark wrote in their announcement. “And we’ll keep pushing to make that happen.”

Although the delay is disappointing, the anniversary event, new map, and XP boost still offer plenty of reasons to revisit Vermintide 2 and dive back into the Skaven-smashing action.
