Quantum Dice and Thales have launched a QRNG-powered Hardware Security Module (HSM) that provides real-time security validation and supports a seamless shift to post-quantum security. This collaboration between the University of Oxford spin-out, Quantum Dice, known for its QRNG technology, and Thales, a global leader in technology and security, represents a significant advancement in strengthening cryptographic defenses as quantum computing becomes more prevalent.

By combining Quantum Dice’s patented DISC™ protocol with Thales’ Luna HSM, this solution enables organizations to verify and assess the security of their encryption keys in real time. It ensures strong protection for traditional applications while preparing for post-quantum security. The integration is especially crucial in providing high-quality entropy, the foundation for post-quantum algorithms and cryptographic key protection.

The QRNG-backed HSM offers improved auditability, facilitating a smooth transition to post-quantum security while ensuring compliance with evolving standards [1]. As the shift to post-quantum security gains momentum, this partnership lays a strong foundation for organizations navigating the transition, enabling quantum-resilient encryption keys and preserving data integrity in an increasingly complex digital environment. The rise of quantum computing has prompted a critical need to bolster cryptographic defenses, especially as the world transitions toward post-quantum security. Central to all post-quantum algorithms is randomness, or entropy, which underpins the cryptographic keys that protect sensitive data. Both the quantity and quality of entropy are crucial for ensuring the strength and security of these keys in a post-quantum era.

The QRNG-backed HSM solution combines Thales' advanced cryptographic capabilities with Quantum Dice’s Quantum Entropy-as-a-Service (QEaaS). By integrating Quantum Dice’s patented DISC™ protocol, the system allows users to verify and quantify the security of their encryption keys in real-time. This integration not only ensures high-quality entropy but also provides enhanced auditability, facilitating a smooth transition to post-quantum security with verifiable, secure cryptographic keys and certificates.

Ksheerabdhi Krishna, VP of Product Marketing at Thales, underscored the crucial role of advanced random number generation in ensuring post-quantum readiness [2]. Dr. Ramy Shelbaya, CEO and Co-Founder of Quantum Dice, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with a prominent hardware security provider, while Wenmiao Yu, Co-Founder and Director of Business Development at Quantum Dice, emphasized the added layer of auditability for encryption keys, thanks to the continuous monitoring of the QRNG incorporated into the Quantum Dice and Thales HSM.
