In the year 2154, nobody will want to wear wristwatches anymore. They’ll probably be out of style or too cumbersome for our hands. The in-factor might be the nail watch, called the TX54. Well, that is what Timex and design website Core77 think could be the future, consistent with the global layout opposition Timex 2154: The Future of Time.” [1] The two held the contest to mark the watch maker’s a hundred and fiftieth anniversary.

Figure 1TX54, the runner-up inside the event, is an ideal watch by 3 Americans designers: Napoleon Merana, Steffen Schubert, and David Takacs. The nail watch is designed to be hooked to the thumbnail. The user should be capable of view the time in the dark simply by urgent the end of the nail. Wearers can also switch between available colors as shown in figure 1. It is likewise disposable. One hopes it’s water-resistant as well, just if you neglect to take it off even as you’re in the shower.

To celebrate its 150th Anniversary and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to design and innovation, international watch brand Timex collaborated with Core77 to carry out a global design competition: Timex2154: THE FUTURE OF TIME that could highlight the state-of-the-art timekeeping pioneered by the company. [2] One of the runners up at the competition, the TX54 concept presents a disposable timepiece that can be worn on the user’s thumbnail making it an invaluable fashion accessory as well.

Thanks to a translucent body, the design blends seamlessly with the nail while a selection of text color options and a glow feature activating on command make it supremely functional as well. A perfect blend of appearance, user interface, and technology, the nail watch passes most standards of modern design with flying colors thanks to its functional and minimalist appeal.

Wearable gadget fanatics and the fashion forward can consider wearing a tiny watch on every fingernail, with each watch programmed to a different time zone around the world. [3] Since watches are disposable, they're not designed to last forever; but no word yet on whether or not they are practical for an active lifestyle, since no information has been released regarding whether they will be waterproof or water resistant once available on the watch market, or how securely they will stick to your finger nail.
