Pokémon GO Player Discovers Their Pokémon Is Extremely Valuable, Five Years After Catching It
A player returning to Pokémon GO after five years has rediscovered an Armored Mewtwo in their collection, a highly coveted variant in the game. This elusive Pokémon was available through Armored Mewtwo raids in July 2019, featuring upgraded design elements. With a CP of 1,821 and a three-star appraisal rating, Armored Mewtwo is a powerful addition to any player's lineup.

A Pokémon GO player who recently returned to the game after a five-year hiatus discovered the value of an Armored Mewtwo that had been sitting unused in their collection. The player found they had three Armored Mewtwos, but two have already been claimed by friends. Figure 1 shows Pokémon GO Player.
While Mewtwo has always been a prominent Legendary Pokémon from the original 150, the armored variant is particularly coveted in the mobile game. This special version of Armored Mewtwo was introduced to promote the film Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, which premiered in Japan in the summer of 2019. This CGI-animated remake of the 1998 film Pokémon: The First Movie included an updated design for the armored Mewtwo.
In July 2019, Armored Mewtwo five-star raids were introduced to Pokémon GO for three weeks, allowing players to battle and capture this special movie Pokémon if they had the skill and luck. A second raid event took place the following year. Reddit user weedle321 managed to capture three Armored Mewtwos during the initial event before taking a break from the game. Upon recently returning to Pokémon GO, the player discovered they had been holding onto valuable Pokémon all along.
Pokémon GO Player Returns and Finds Three Highly Valuable Pokémon
Although the armor worn by Mewtwo in the movie is designed to suppress its psychic powers, it doesn't affect the Pokémon's effectiveness in the game. The Armored Mewtwo shown by the player in the thread has a CP of 1,821 and a three-star appraisal rating for its IVs. Thankfully, this is the version the player chose to keep, as IVs are randomized after a trade.
Currently, obtaining an Armored Mewtwo in Pokémon GO requires some form of trading. However, for those who find a willing trader, Armored Mewtwo qualifies for the game's Special Trade feature, which can save a significant amount of Stardust.
