Weather forecasting systems use a combination of science and technology to make accurate predictions on weather conditions of a particular location at a particular time. Weather forecast systems and applications predict weather conditions based on multiple parameters, such as pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed, etc.

This weather forecasting project is a web application. It has a graphical user interface where users can log in via their user ID and password. This weather forecast application is different from the conventional weather forecast systems where you only enter the location. [1]

Figure 1 shows Generally, weather for agriculture is collected from meteorological stations covering a certain territory around them, and the bigger the distance, the less accurate the forecast is. Typical forecasting models allow prognosis based on specific conditions and their combinations. However, such suggestions are far from precise and cannot always assist in making the right decisions and insuring weather risks in agriculture.[2]

The Role of Weather Forecasting in Agriculture

Weather forecasting in food and agriculture is more than just a scientific curiosity. Having the advantage of knowing in advance the atmospheric conditions for a specific location can save your crops, protect your property, and even save your life in extreme situations.

As a result, farm owners and operators, in general, are becoming more and more interested in services that tailor weather forecasts to their particular needs. Those needs include maximizing profits, minimizing losses, and increasing net farm income.

Weather data is an absolute necessity for any farmer to take into account in making critical decisions. Those decisions can include when to plant, spray, irrigate, and harvest. [3]

Importance of Weather Forecasting in Modern Agriculture

Agriculture and farming are mainly dependent on seasons and weather. The temperature matters a lot in that case when it comes to the farming of different kinds of fruits, vegetables, and pulses. Previously we did not have a better understanding of weather forecasting and farmers were still doing their job based on predictions. Though sometimes they occur loss due to false predictions of weather. Now that the technology is developed and special weather forecasting mechanisms are available, the farmers can get all the updates are on a smartphone. Education towards that is, of course, an important thing but most of the farmer population at this stage knows the basics which make it easy for them to use the features.

Weather forecasting is a prediction on conditions of atmosphere depending on location and time. Every area will have their different predictions related to the condition of weather which makes pretty easy for the farmers to know how and what to do when. The relationship between weather and agriculture has, therefore, necessitated the need for accurate prediction of the weather; to enable farmers to make an informed decision that will not bring losses to them. Temperature, sunlight, and rainfall have major effects on the crops. For livestock, temperatures and adequate water and food are essential. [4]
