MediaTek Announces First SoC Support for Dolby Vision IQ
Pentonic series of smart TV chips support advanced new imaging technologies powered by Dolby, including features designed for gaming in Dolby Vision.

Figure 1 shows that MediaTek has announced it is the first TV SoC vendor to support Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail.MediaTek and Dolby collaborated on the implementation of these technologies, which will be available starting in 2H 2022 for TV OEMs to begin adopting.[1]
Televisions with Dolby Vision IQ now come with Precision Detail feature, and it will be compatible with MediaTek’s Pentonic series for 8k and 4k smart televisions as well.
The latest feature, Precision Detail, allows for an enhanced experience with Dolby Vision content by delivering “incredible detail in both bright and dark areas,” by joining Dolby’s suite of Advanced technologies accessible via Dolby Vision IQ.
Along with Precision Detail, MediaTek’s Intelligent View technology combined with Dolby’s advancements in imaging technology is capable of processing multiple Dolby Vision streams concurrently.
Users will now be able to watch various media sources simultaneously in Dolby Vision in multiple windows. [2]
MediaTek Pentonic also improves gameplay with support for features designed for gaming in Dolby Vision. This includes advancements TV OEMs will be able to offer their customers such as gaming in Dolby Vision at 4K 120Hz.
In addition, Pentonic chips will further improve latency and display enhancements when gaming in Dolby Vision through Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to improve the gaming experience.
