ABOUT US

Copyright Policy

AnaPub Publications follow two primary models books should consider with regards to copyright:

  • Author retains copyright
  • Author transfers copyright to the book

Typically open access books will choose one of several Creative Commons' licenses for their books' content.

Authors also grant any third party the right to use the article freely as long as its integrity is maintained and its original authors, citation details and publisher are identified.

The Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 formalizes these and other terms and conditions of publishing articles.

Author Retains Copyright

Open access books permit authors to retain their copyright. The author has full control over the work (e.g. retains the right to reuse, distribute, republish etc.). In this scenario, the author will often license the right of first publication to the book.

Book Retains Copyright

This model is more common with traditional, subscription-based books. It is less commons for open access books.

In this model, the author transfers the copyright and the associated rights along with it to the book. This means the book is now responsible for the article. The book can elect to license back certain rights to the author.

Open Data policy

AnaPub Publications some books also follow Open Data policy and the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Public Domain Dedication waiver applies to all published data in these books.

Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons licenses dictate to readers what they may do with the book's content. There are several licenses to choose from and ultimately depend on what the book thinks is best for its authors and its readership.
