Google Maps will now show an estimate of toll prices that will be included in your journey, the search giant has announced. The announcement of this feature was made back in April, however, it has just started rolling out to users in India, Indonesia, Japan, and the US with other countries getting it later. As per the company, the service's new feature will allow users to check estimated toll prices before a trip begins, and can identify available toll-free routes. [1]

Figure 1 shows Google says that the estimated toll prices are sourced from trusted information provided by local tolling authorities. Furthermore, Maps will take other factors, such as the day of the week or whether or not you have a toll pass, into account before showing the estimated toll prices. [3]

In an announcement on Tuesday, Google revealed that both Android as well as iOS users in India, Indonesia, Japan, and the US will be able to get an estimated toll price on the Google Maps app for nearly 2,000 toll roads. “You’ll see the estimated toll price to your destination before you start navigating thanks to trusted information from local tolling authorities,” the company said. Further, Apple Watch users will soon be able to get directions on Google Maps directly from their Watch. Google says that in a few weeks, users won’t have to being navigation from their iPhone—tapping on the Google Maps shortcut on their Apple Watch app will launch the navigation automatically on the Apple Watch itself.

Meanwhile, Google Maps also announced integration into iOS Spotlight, Siri, and the Shortcuts app. You can just say “Hey Siri, get directions” or “Hey Siri, search in Google Maps” to access Google Maps’ helpful information instantly. This feature will be available in the coming months, with enhanced Siri search functionality coming later this summer, as per Google. [4]
