Apple is introducing its long-awaited AI-powered Siri in the iOS 27 beta, transforming the voice assistant into a smarter, more personalized helper with enhanced conversational and task-handling capabilities.

With iOS 27, Apple is focusing on practical AI features, delivering a faster, smarter Siri, improved performance on older devices, and meaningful upgrades to apps like Messages, Safari, Maps, and Photos to make everyday tasks easier.

Siri AI Arrives at Last

iOS 27 keeps much of the visual style introduced in iOS 26 while adding refined design controls. Apple has improved transparency settings, enhanced layered UI effects, and adjusted background rendering with clearer outlines and reflections for a more polished interface.

iOS 27 puts Siri at the center of Apple’s AI strategy, bringing major improvements that help it compete with advanced AI assistants like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude. While Siri has significantly closed the gap, Apple’s upgrade still lacks some of the standout features users expected.

iOS 27 introduces new ways to access Siri, including a swipe gesture from the Dynamic Island alongside existing voice and button controls. While the updated interface is neatly designed, the added gesture may feel crowded at first because the top edge already handles notifications and Control Center access.

iOS 27 adds a dedicated Siri app that keeps track of past interactions while excluding simple requests like timers. However, the app still needs refinement, as it lacks clear feedback for uploaded images, making some actions confusing and repetitive.

Siri AI introduces “Expressive Voice,” allowing users to adjust Siri’s speaking style and speed for a more personalized experience. The assistant is most effective when using context from the iPhone, such as retrieving relevant information from apps based on user requests.

iOS 27 introduces a range of upcoming enhancements across Apple apps, including smarter Apple Maps features, improved Messages with expanded RCS support, Safari tab organization, advanced Find My controls, AirPods upgrades, cross-platform iCloud photo sharing, better Wallet scanning, and new Health tracking options for menopause and perimenopause.

Improved performance and smarter assistance make the iPhone experience feel faster and more useful, though Siri still has room to catch up with leading AI competitors.
