Spotify is testing a new beta feature that allows paid users to interact with the app through voice or text commands. Available from the Home and Now Playing screens on mobile, the tool lets users create playlists, discover more about songs, and explore their listening history with a more conversational experience.

Spotify says the new feature allows users to communicate with the app through voice or text conversations. Users can control playback, explore music details, revisit listening history, and discover more about podcasts and audiobooks without leaving the Spotify app.

Spotify’s new “Talk to Spotify” feature lets users control music through natural voice or text commands directly from the Home or Now Playing screens. Users can request personalized recommendations, adjust playlists with follow-up instructions, and manage songs by saving tracks, adding them to queues, or following artists through simple conversations. Figure 1 shows Spotify Gets Voice-Powered Music Control.

The “Talk to Spotify” feature also helps users explore music, podcasts, and audiobooks by answering questions about songs, artists, albums, guests, and authors. It can provide background details, recommend related content, and even analyze personal listening habits by revealing past activity, favorite genres, and listening history.
