The world’s first hotel operated entirely by robots is set to open in China next year. Developed by Pudu Robotics, the fully automated hotel will be located on the West Artificial Island of the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link, a major bridge-and-tunnel megaproject in Guangdong Province.

Scheduled to open in 2027, the hotel will rely entirely on robots to perform every hospitality task, from check-in and room service to housekeeping, food preparation, and guest assistance. Developed by Shenzhen-based Pudu Robotics, the project marks the company’s first fully automated hotel after deploying its robots across retail, dining, and cleaning industries.

Pudu Robotics and Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development are partnering to transform the West Artificial Island into a showcase for robotics and advanced technology, creating a new visitor destination following the island’s opening in late 2025. According to Pudu Robotics, the partnership marks a major step toward deploying AI-powered robots throughout premium hospitality. The company says the project will also serve as a real-world testbed for intelligent, end-to-end service models that combine robotics and artificial intelligence.

The hotel will launch in phases, beginning with a public trial in late 2026. During the pilot, a limited number of guest rooms and robot-operated services will be available, allowing visitors to experience automated check-in, reception, and autonomous in-room delivery.

While robots already assist with hotel services in many Chinese cities, the new hotel is designed to operate entirely without human staff. Powered by Pudu Robotics’ integrated AI platform, specialized robots will handle reception, luggage transport, room deliveries, vending, and cleaning, all working together through a shared intelligence system that enables coordinated and adaptive hotel operations.

At the project launch, Pudu Robotics demonstrated its service robots by having them prepare and deliver refreshments, reflecting Shenzhen’s growing adoption of automation. The new hotel is the first step in a broader plan to transform West Artificial Island into a robotics-powered tourism destination, with advanced autonomous services expanding over the coming years [1]. The 44-room luxury hotel will feature a restaurant, gym, and a fully integrated smart system in which robots manage every stage of the guest experience, with future plans extending the technology across the island’s hospitality sector.
