The prospects of 5G technology and its implications for IoT devices have been a matter of profound interest for experts in the Information Technology Sector. Given the phenomenal rise estimated in the number of IoT devices from 16.4 billion to 30.9 billion units by 2025, the evolution of 5G technology is a must for seamless communication between these large number of devices.

5G networks will specifically empower the businesses in the healthcare industry, education, transportation, supply chain, and manufacturing industry. The Internet of Things (IoT) is rising as the number of connected devices is set to increase from 700 million to 3.2 billion by 2023. While there are a few factors contributing to this rise, one of the most important will be the development of 5G networks.

The commercial success of any IoT is ultimately tied to its performance, which is dependent on how quickly it can communicate with other IoT devices, smartphones and tablets, software in the form of its app or website, and more. With 5G, data-transfer speeds will increase significantly.[1]

According to Statista, by 2026, forecasts predict that there will be just under five billion 5G subscriptions worldwide.

No doubt 5G technology is one of the most significant internet of things (IoT) emerging technologies in the year 2023 because strong connectivity will result in more trustworthy performing IoT devices. Lower latency, network slicing, real-time data processing, extensive coverage, and real-time data processing are some things that 5G will bring to the table.[3]
