Eon Unveils Ransomware Solution Specifically Designed for Cloud Security
Eon, the next-generation cloud backup solution, has introduced the first ransomware protection package purpose-built for cloud-native environments. Designed to address the unique challenges faced by cloud-first organizations, the new offering provides comprehensive, full-spectrum protection—from proactive prevention and real-time detection to rapid, automated recovery.

This release marks a significant step in bridging the gap between traditional data protection methods and the evolving needs of cloud infrastructure. As Dr. Assaf Natanzon, Chief Architect at Eon, explains:
“Conventional ransomware protection was developed for static, on-premises setups—where infrastructure is manually managed, and security is perimeter-based. These legacy systems weren’t built for today’s dynamic, distributed cloud environments.” Figure 1 shows Eon Launches Ransomware Defense Tailored for Cloud Security.
He continues: “In multi-cloud ecosystems, complexity is the norm. Repurposing on-prem approaches simply doesn’t work—they lack the scalability, automation, and real-time awareness required for effective protection at cloud scale. That false sense of security leaves businesses vulnerable.”
Unlike solutions that are merely cloud-compatible, Eon was architected from the ground up for cloud-native operations. Its new ransomware protection package is aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, covering identification, protection, detection, response, and recovery—all within a single interface. The platform offers centralized visibility and control across AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid environments, streamlining both defense and recovery efforts.
Key capabilities include:
- Immutable snapshots and logically air-gapped backup vaults for tamper-proof data integrity.
- Automated resource classification, global search, and granular restore capabilities to minimize downtime.
- AI-powered detection that analyzes entropy changes, anomalous write behavior, and malware indicators across cloud-native services, including managed databases and data warehouses.
- Flexible recovery options that precisely restore only encrypted files, folders, or database records—prioritizing critical data to reduce business impact.
“The platform is built for seamless integration,” Dr. Natanzon explains. “We support in-region, cross-region, and cross-cloud backups with strict retention lock policies and RBAC enforcement. Our agentless detection engine integrates with SIEM tools and alerting platforms like Slack and AWS SNS, enabling real-time threat response.”
Eon’s innovation is especially critical for sectors that demand continuous data availability, such as financial services, healthcare, SaaS providers, and large enterprises managing multi-cloud deployments. The ability to recover instantly and without compromise could prove transformational.
“Ransomware remains one of the most pressing cyberthreats,” said Dr. Natanzon. “We built Eon to close the protection gap in the cloud and ensure that businesses can bounce back instantly from attacks—without the costs of downtime or data loss. This is a major leap forward in cloud resilience.”
