Kawasaki Launches Its First Electric Vehicle on June 7th

On May 19, Kawasaki released a preview of its first electric two-wheeler on its social platform, and officially announced that the new car will be released on June 7. Kawasaki extinguish the slogan "The Good Times are electric."

Figure 1 shows that, as early as last year, Kawasaki announced that it would launch 10 electric or hybrid motorcycles by 2035, and also announced that it would launch 3 electric commercial vehicles by the end of 2022. This new electric car, which will be released on June 7, may be one of the three commercial models it plans to launch. [1]

The Japanese brand has ambitious plans for the electrification of its fleet and wants its entire vehicle portfolio to be electric and hybrid by 2035. However, the manufacturer concealed that the first vehicle, the Kawasaki Elektrode, would be intended for children only. In fact, when the audience waited for three electric motorcycles, no one could have imagined that one of them would be aimed at this younger audience. [4]

Despite the rage of electric mobility created in the past few months, some auto manufacturers continue to prefer IC engines. Especially Japanese automakers like Kawasaki, who have spent blood and sweat on building quiet, clean, vibe-free and performance-oriented IC engines, aren’t ready to let go of their powertrains.

Kawasaki said, transition from IC engines to battery-powered vehicles is inevitable and too much delay in their development will push the particular band behind its rivals. Hence, Kawasaki made a bold announcement last year that it would be launching as many as three electric motorcycles by the end of 2023. [2]

Apart from the upcoming electrical motocross, Kawasaki can be slated to launch two extra eclectic two-wheelers this year. One of them could possibly be a totally electrical spinoff of Ninja 300 which might be based mostly on the idea bike EV Endeavor. This electrical Ninja 300 Concept made its first look again in 2019.

Later the identical 12 months, Kawasaki filed patents for a hybrid motorbike, photos of which floated on the web. Last 12 months, the superbike model revealed an idea prototype for its first hybrid electrical motorbike. This idea prototype used the identical tubular metal body as Ninja 400 and contains a 399cc parallel-twin motor together with a big electrical motor mounted above the transmission. [3]
