Acer today announced two additions to its SpatialLabs lineup of products: the Acer SpatialLabs View for personal entertainment and Acer SpatialLabs View Pro for commercial audiences. [1]

Figure 1 shows that While the Acer SpatialLabs View comes with an all-new stereoscopic 3D gaming platform, the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro comes with both the technology necessary to realize a user’s creations and also an intelligent industrial design that simplifies deployment — a combination that leads to more impactful storytelling opportunities.

Gamers and creators alike will appreciate the series’ lightweight design (less than 1.5 kg / 3.3 lbs), making it easy to put in a bag and take to a LAN party or product pitch session. Creators in particular can depend on 100% coverage of the Adobe RGB color gamut, but gamers will also appreciate the devices’ 400 nits of brightness. [1]

One clicks 3D game play:

"This is possible because games are mostly created with three dimensions in mind: Developers include information about depth into each scene and object they build. SpatialLabs leverages this already existing information in order to present the games in stereoscopic 3D," Acer said in its announcement.

Acer said that TrueGame would support more than 50 games. TrueGame will provide preconfigured 3D profiles for each title that will automatically launch when you play a supported game. An Acer rep claimed it will add more games "every month." [2]

Model Viewer:

Acer’s new SpatialLabs View, meanwhile, is a 15.6-inch, 3840 x 2160 anti-glare portable monitors with up to 323 nits’ brightness, 100% Adobe RGB color gamut, HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, and a 56 Wh built-in battery. It weighs 3.3 pounds and will sell for $1100 when it hits the streets this summer.

The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro has nearly identical effects, but Acer says it’s designed for content creation and includes out-of-the-box support for 3D file formats used by tools including Datasmith, Revit, Solid works, Cinema 4D, and Sketchfab.

The laptop’s other features are largely what you’d expect from a premium notebook though, including support for up to a 12th-gen Intel Core i9 processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics, 32GB of DDR5-4800 memory, and PCie Gen 4 NVMe RAID 0 SSD storage plus Intel Killer E2600 wireless and Killer 1675i wired connectivity.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition will be available in the fourth quarter of 2022 for $3400 and up. [3]
