Masks are the wearable of the year — even though the majority are not smart devices. Enter the AirPop Active+ Halo, a smart air filtration system designed for wearing on the face, and in short a connected mask. The device works in tandem with a downloadable app to your smartphone to alert you to what is being removed from the air you breathe.

AirPop does not promise to remove Covid-19 from the air around you, nor the air you inhale. But it does say it can make the air in your lungs cleaner of certain concerns including fine particulates. [3]

Figure 1 shows This is a powerful pairing! Once connected, Halo’s discreet sensor array automatically detects when you start breathing and then syncs your breathing data with the app. An inhale/exhale LED ring indicates breath rate while its intelligent capture supports real-time or background passive modes. The personal dashboard shows real-time protection levels and tracks breathing by activity and location. Over time, it gets smarter if you opt in to share your modes of transport, routing and breathing behavior. We are one of the respiratory devices that work with Apple HealthKit, so you can track your breathing in iOS. [1]

Mask protect against COVID-19 and other viruses:

First and foremost: it would be incorrect to say that any mask can protect you against Covid-19 / or viruses as wearing a mask is only one of the appropriate controls to be implemented, including social distancing, good hand hygiene and adequate ventilation. However, good mask performance as determined by WHO is achieved when the three essential parameters of Fit, Filtration and Breathability are optimized at the preferred thresholds and AirPop exceeds all parameters of even the very latest WHO Guidance. AirPop masks provide unparalleled comfort and breathability and have >99% bacterial and particle filtration. Our patented 3D shaped “Air-Dome” structure holds the mask away from the wearer’s face, creating a pocket of cooler air that allows the and the effective evaporation of exhaled moisture.[2]

Price

You can purchase the AirPop Active+ Halo mask on its site for $149.99 in black only. Filter refills are $24.99 for a package of four. [3]
