Nothing, the UK-based electronics brand backed by OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei, is all set to host a virtual event later today. The launch event will see announcements about Nothing's product roadmap for the year and it will be livestreamed via the company's official channels. Exact details about what Nothing is unveiling at the event are yet to be officially revealed, but the company is expected to announce its first smartphone. The smartphone could feature a transparent design, similar to Nothing's first pair of true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds that were launched in 2021. The upcoming smartphone from Nothing is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. [1]

Figure 1 shows the event will start on March 23 at 7:30 pm. For this, the company has also released a short teaser of 16 seconds. The tech giant could unveil its phone at this event. Carl Pei showed a prototype of the first Nothing phone at MWC 2022. Soon after, a photo of Pei showing the phone to some people at an event in Barcelona was also leaked. [3]

Nothing event: What’s expected

The company has not given too many clues on what it will be revealing at tonight’s event. It is expected to showcase what the product lineup for 2022. Of course, the standard expectation is that Nothing will talk about its new premium smartphone, perhaps one powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. But again there’s no guarantee that Nothing will showcase its new phone later today. [2]

Nothing did talk about having five products lined up after its truly wireless earbuds for consumers in 2022. And it is expected that a smartphone could be among the lineup. In addition to the Nothing phone, reports have also talked about Nothing launching a power bank that could support fast charging for other devices.

The global launch event this week is going to put all those rumours to bed, and we are hoping that Nothing ‘truly’ lives up to the hype created by Carl and Co. in the past few months. [4]

Nothing started its journey by launching the Ear 1 true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds last year with a transparent design. The premium earbuds came with active noise cancellation (ANC), cross-platform support, and wireless charging to attract consumers. [1]
