Xiaomi 12 Ultra — the purported successor to the Mi 11 Ultra released last year — is tipped to debut in China in May. The smartphone manufacturer could launch the Xiaomi 12 Ultra as a premium offering, alongside the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X smartphone models that were unveiled in China in December. According to older reports, the smartphone could be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC, an upgraded version of the SoC found on the Xiaomi 12 Pro, and run on a 4,860mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.[1]

Figure 1 shows the alleged details come from known tipster Digital Chat Station via Weibo. Xiaomi 12 Ultra is believed to feature a large rear camera module that nearly spans across the entire width of the handset. Its outer part is expected to sport a rectangular shape while the centrally placed circular interior section is tipped to house all the camera sensors. The tipster mentions that this design layout might be very similar to the design of an upcoming Vivo flagship smartphone which might have its circular camera island aligned to the left. [2]

The handset will feature a 2K display with HDR10+ support

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature a punch-hole display, slim bezels, curved edges, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It could have a Leica-branded circular camera unit on the rear. The handset may bear a 6.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display with 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is also likely to have IP68 water resistance. [3]

Earlier leaks have hinted that the device will feature a 6.6-inch 2K display. Additionally, the device is rumored to come with a quad-camera setup comprising a primary 50MP Samsung GN5 lens, a 48MP 2x zoom lens, a 48MP lens with 5x zooming capability, and lastly, a 48MP sensor with 10x zoom.

Under the hood, the 12 Ultra will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and is expected to have an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The phone may come with 120W rapid charging featured in the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

Although Xiaomi is yet to reveal any details regarding the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, the device is expected to debut in mid-February after the Chinese spring festival.[4]
