OpenAI has made ChatGPT Projects accessible to free users, providing a more organized way to manage work within ChatGPT. Projects function as digital workspaces, allowing users to consolidate everything related to a task or ongoing effort. Users can group conversations, upload reference files, and apply custom instructions, reducing the need to switch between separate chats. In addition to opening Projects to free users, OpenAI is introducing several enhancements:
- Increased file uploads per project: up to 5 for free users, 25 for Plus users, and 40 for Pro/Business/Enterprise users.
- More customization: users can now select colors and icons for their projects.
- Project-specific memory controls: allowing more tailored context within each workspace.
These features are already available on the web and Android, with iOS support coming soon.
With expanded Projects and enhanced customization options, OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a more powerful tool for managing complex or long-term tasks [1].
