ElevenLabs Launches Mobile Text-to-Speech App—No Browser Required

ElevenLabs has introduced a new mobile app that allows users to create voice clips directly from their smartphones. Now available on both iOS and Android, the app eliminates the need to access the platform through a web browser.

Previously, generating audio using ElevenLabs’ voice technology required visiting their website—an experience that could be clunky and inconvenient, especially on mobile devices. The new app is built to streamline that process, making it much easier to create voice clips on the go.

Here’s how it works: simply type or paste your text, choose a voice from the available options, and the app generates your audio clip. The free plan includes around 10 minutes of audio generation time. Users can also upgrade to access higher-quality voice models or additional features. Conveniently, credits are shared across both the mobile and web platforms, so your usage remains synced no matter where you're working.

The app also includes Eleven Labs’ newest voice system, v3 alpha, which offers more nuanced control over how generated voices sound. Users can even insert tags to adjust the tone or emotion of the speech output—making it more expressive and customizable. Figure 1 shows the Text-to-Speech App.

Interestingly, many users were already using the web version of ElevenLabs on mobile to create voiceovers for apps like Instagram, CapCut, and InShot. Seeing this demand, the company decided to develop a dedicated mobile solution tailored to this use case.

Of course, ElevenLabs isn’t the only player in this space—apps like Speechify and Captions also offer voice cloning and generation features. But this move signals ElevenLabs’ deeper push into the mobile TTS market.

This isn’t the company’s first product aimed at everyday users [1]. Last year, ElevenLabs released the Reader app, which lets users listen to articles, blogs, PDFs, and e-books on the go. It was later expanded to serve publishers, enabling them to convert written content into audiobooks.

Looking ahead, ElevenLabs plans to bring even more features to the new app, including speech-to-text capabilities and a conversational AI tool. There’s also talk of integrating more advanced systems that work with the company’s broader platform at 11.ai.
